Member finds strength in community to “negotiate terrain” of cancer journey

When Barbara Center was diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoma at the age of 63, the retired community college teacher turned to her gift for writing. 

One of the pieces she wrote was an eloquent reflection on the life lessons her cancer had brought so sharply into focus. It was published in the program guide for the 10th anniversary of the It’s Always Something variety show, the annual major fundraiser for Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto, the cancer support charity she joined after her diagnosis.
