Presenter: Dr. Shainhouse opened the Insight Naturopathic Clinic, located in midtown Toronto in 2004. Dr. Shainhouse’s practice is exclusive to adjunctive cancer care, and she strives to help patients improve their clinical outcomes and quality of life using an evidence-based approach to care. Dr. Shainhouse was a clinical faculty member for many years at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Teaching Clinic, during which she helped begin the Adjunctive Cancer Care Program, now the Integrative Cancer Centre. Since then, Dr. Shainhouse began to supervise a clinical observation program for naturopathic interns at the Louise Temerty Breast Cancer Centre and the Odette Cancer Centre both located at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Dr. Shainhouse’s goal in founding this program was to improve the quality of clinical education of naturopathic medical students.
Dr. Shainhouse has volunteered as the Naturopathic Advisor for ReThink Breast Cancer, Breast Cancer Survivorship and as a long-time lecturer at Wellspring Cancer Support Centre.
Dr. Shainhouse was on the Board of Directors of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians and since 2010 has been a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology.
