Yoga
This program is offered virtually. Members can register through our weekly newsletter.
Awaken your senses and experience awareness through a gentle hour of mindful movement, breath, sound and guided meditation to find relaxation, healing from within, improved energy and relief from the stress of pain and discomfort; progress to balance, strength and general well-being. Open to all levels of experience using a mat or chair and we welcome beginners! Research has suggested that yoga has several health benefits including stress management, supporting mental and emotional health, and promoting a healthy lifestyle and sleep. Our yoga is open to individuals living with cancer and their caregivers. As well as individuals whose loved one has died from cancer.
Facilitator: Tamara Kayfetz
Originally from Toronto – Tamara has lived in Kingston for the past 36 years where she received her initial RYT – 200 qualifications (Janati Yoga School). She has additional training in Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Compassionate Teaching, and Trauma Informed Teaching. Tamara has been practicing yoga for 30 years and has been teaching for 7 years. Her work in the past few years has centered on yoga for seniors. Tamara believes that the practice of moving and strengthening our bodies, connecting with our inner selves, stilling our minds, and discerning what to let go of and what to pursue, are the key to a balanced, graceful, and healthy life. Yoga can meet anyone where they are regardless of experience, flexibility, fitness, or age. Tamara never ceases to be amazed by what our bodies can teach us if we get quiet enough to listen.
