Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto. Below is some additional information about volunteering and the steps to follow to start the process.
1) Complete the application form If you have a current resume, you can send it along with your application. Volunteer Application Form
2) Attend a personal interview
3) Attend an Orientation and Training Session
4) Reference Check
5) A vulnerable person’s police check is required for volunteering. We will have you complete the form at the interview and we will submit it to Toronto Police Services. We require a $20.00 deposit for the police check and when you return the form to us when it is mailed to you, we return the deposit to you. We pay $20 for each police check so the deposit ensures we receive the forms back. Checks take a few weeks to be returned to you. If you live outside Toronto, you will have to acquire the check in your city/town.
*Once all steps are completed we will book your volunteer start date and role orientation here at Gilda’s Club! You will have a great time and gain experience while building new relationships.
Program Facilitator Volunteers
If you have a special skill/training/certification (artistic, knowledgeable in a specific area, physical fitness) that you would like to share with our members, we are open to proposals for our workshop/program calendar. We would love to learn about your skills and interest and how it can benefit our members or staff. The time commitment will vary upon acceptance as a facilitator.
Volunteers are needed to help at 991 Kennedy Road Bingo (east end) with a charity bingo which will raise funds for the organization.
Volunteer commitment is about 1-2 shifts per month. Duties include greeting and assisting patrons and information about Gilda’s Club to promote our organization. No money handling required. Day/evening/weekend shifts available. Minimum 6-month commitment. Next site bingo training is TBA.
We welcome volunteers with a variety of life experience and diversity, looking to help others in a meaningful way. We would not be able to provide all of our programs without our amazing volunteers. Volunteers are an integral part of the Gilda’s Club community and are involved in every aspect of the club. In the spirit of Gilda Radner, we encourage a light-hearted, warm and welcoming space and our volunteers represent that idea.
